An important goal of www.internetminister.org is to empower YOU to share your faith through the development of "Bridge Sites". The Bridge Site Strategy is grounded in the idea of finding common ground as a method of relating better with those who don't know the Lord.
Common interests, hobbies, life situations, work experiences, health conditions, causes, etc. can be used as the "BRIDGE" to enter into their world. A bridge presents opportunities to develop friendships and dialogue.
In my own life as an Urban Missionary, I have seen how my passion for basketball has allowed me to bridge into the world of Urban Youth. As a teenager myself, I walked into the "poorest suburb in the United States" with a basketball in one hand and a Bible in the other. Basketball created opportunities to develop close friendships with kids and adults who came from a world and culture completely different than mine. Basketball gave me an audience of people who were interested in what I had to say after we spent some time on the basketball court. Souls were saved, lives have been transformed, and a powerful church has been established...
Common interests can give you a large, listening audience to share your faith...
OUR GOALS FOR DEVELOPING CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY GROUPS:
1) To be a place where Christians can go to enjoy their particular interests and develop friendships with likeminded Christians.
2) To empower Christians to share their faith by developing "Bridge Sites" that correspond to their particular interests. Also to enlarge these "Community Groups" by including people who don't know the Lord.
We must first identify and develop our Christian Community Groups order to plan and develop the evangelistic Bridge Sites. We must also create a true sense of community before we can invite others to connect with our community.
Please consider what your passions, talents, and interests are? What are your hobbies, what activities do you look forward to? All of these can be used to connect with the "lost". Also consider what type of a role you would like to play in the community - a writer? a researcher? etc. More explaination coming soon.
Every day millions of people who need Jesus log on to the Interent and search for information about their passions and interests. The Internet is also fast becoming a central vehicle for people to search for community and friendship.
Let's be what they are searching for and then give them the GOOD NEWS. We know that ultimately they are searching for God . . .
Remember:
People are lonely ... and searching for community and friendship.
People are stressed ... and searching for escape and entertainment.
People are insecure ... and searching for acceptance and affirmation.
People feel insignificant ... and are searching for a meaningful life and purpose.
Together, with YOUR HELP, we will use our special interests to "Bridge" into the virtual world and share the GOOD NEWS.
